As a conference producer, he creates content for ITAG events on trends and technologies. His latest project is the Automotive Inspire series of interviews with fascinating and inspirational people working in the automotive and mobility industries. He also is a judge for the Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems, Wards 10 Best Interiors and Wards 10 Best UX each year, in addition to being a long-time juror for the North American Car, Truck and Utility of the Year awards.

Haig Stoddard has followed the auto industry for over three decades, starting as a reporter for WardsAuto and transitioning to automotive market analyst. He has spent most of his career at Wards, with stints along the way at another independent organization forecasting North American vehicle production, and as a vehicle sales analyst at both a major supplier and automaker. Since returning to Wards nine years ago, he has served as the company’s chief market analyst contributing to several of the information provider’s data products and tools, focusing on market analysis through tying together demand, vehicle production and powertrain trends.

Phil Marshall is the Chief Research Officer of Tolaga, where he leads its thought leadership for the Internet-of-Things (IoT) and mobile industry research.

Before founding Tolaga, Dr. Marshall was an Executive at Yankee Group for nine years, and most recently led its service provider technology research globally. He serves on the advisory boards of several start-up companies and was a non-Executive board member of Antone Wireless, which was acquired by Westell in 2012.

Marshall has over 20 years of experience in the wireless communications industry. He spent many years working in various engineering operations, research and strategic planning roles for Verizon International, Telecom New Zealand and BHP New Zealand Steel. He has a PhD degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and is a Senior Member of the IEEE.

Steve Bell,

Steve Bell is an accomplished strategy and technology analyst with Informa Tech Automotive Group. His team is focused on the development of the automotive landscape, ecosystem and value chain. His coverage at Wards Intelligence and TU-Automotive focuses on connectivity-based technology transformation (4G, 5G, V2X, Satellite, Mobile Edge computing, AI, IoT, cybersecurity and blockchain) on vehicles, development and production, and adjacent areas such as smart cities.

For the last 5 years, Steve was a Senior Analyst with Heavy Reading, and focused on IoT in the mobile network domain, specifically the growth of 4G and 5G in two verticals: Industrial IoT and connected and autonomous vehicles. For the last 2 years, he has also served as analyst in residence at, providing insight on the future of the emerging Auto tech industry.

Steve joined Heavy Reading in 2014, after an extensive executive career in industrial applications and then mobile communications with Motorola in Germany, the U.K. and the U.S. He is also an entrepreneur, having founded two companies: one an analysis and advisory firm, the other a digital city services platform focused on parking.
